Nicky Slater to NICKSTIR, is the journey in 2025. A journey to a new name, new voice and music added and breaking free of his Showman career tethered to ice dancing.

This Album features legacy recordings from 2017. It was recorded before new voice and his self produced sound emerged. Arrangements and Production by Andrew and Zac Smith of Lakeside Studios Kelowna have superb quality. Songs reflect the time of landing in a New Continent as Immigrant...

The tracks are original versions. Since 2017 much has developed. NICKSTIR'S voice, songs, piano and guitar and production expertise. His sound is transformed. Yet - these recordings mark the start of the journey - The Searching in a new land. And the production of all the tracks is first class.

BACKGROUND: 2025 NICKSTIR has finding his way on his journey from Nicky Slater to NICKSTIR.

After a lifetime of searching this Legacy Album starts to take the LID OFF THE BOX of NICKSTIR, as Songwriter, Writer and Showman. This work of re-invention has been hidden behind the scenes, percolating in development, for almost a quarter of a century. ...

VINTAGE VOCALS: These tracks were produced back in 2017 before NICKSTIR's voice and self produced sound developed.

This presents a quandary as NICKSTIR did not want to release the tracks. LID OFF THE BOX Manager Frank Speaker has released these Pre-NICKSTIR vocals with 'Nicky Slater Presents' as vocalist moniker. NICKSTIR hasn't been told. Like all his work, NICKSTIR forgets what he's created. If pressed he'd say it's all somewhere in that 15TB 'Back Up' disk, somewhere.

NEW ARTISTS: This Album introduces: NICKSTIR's song writing, Nicky Slater Presents vocals (back in 2026/17) and the inimitable Basil Fortesque Smyth III. Basil turned up at a recording session to help producer Andrew Smith with a specific arrangement of Millionaire; unexpected and uninvited, serendipity contributing.

WRITERS: All music and lyrics written by NICKSTIR excepting 'How Do We do this' co-written with Ray Travasso.

PRODUCTION CANADA: Kelowna, BC. NICKSTIR created initial arrangements for some tracks. LAKESIDE STUDIOS, Andrew and Zach Smith arranged, performed on and produced the majority here. BIG AUDIO PRODUCTIONS: Bob Gabelhouse brought Gentle Love Songs beautifully to life as a Co-Production with NICKSTIR.

PRODUCTION ENGLAND: Ipswich. A very rough yet personally significant live NICKSTIR recorded and produced track with Nicky Slater Presents vocals and Ray Travasso guitar is also included. This was recorded towards the end of Nicky Slater's Ten Year sojourn 'searching' in Ipswich and as the culmination of Music Therapy Ray delivered. See track notes.

COVER ART: Clive Minnican took the photograph, in the grounds of EACH, Ipswich, England in 2016. NICKSTIR created art overlays and design treatment.

TRACK: How Do We Do was the culmination of Music Therapy gifted to NICKSTIR by E.A.C.H. - each.org.uk - Support the brilliant work. Ray Travasso is joint writer and facilitator of that song. It was made to culminate Music Therapy - Nicky Slater received as a gift after the death of his son. Ray Travasso has seeded any income from his rights in this song to EACH. Any earnings, after costs, from - How Do We Do This - will be donated to that work. A work that served family Slater at a heartbreaking time.
